Sean 💀👍

September’s big wave days are on the way and I needed something new to blast on the way to the beach. My go-to has always been an unrelenting death metal band. For some reason, it gets you in the perfect mindset to endure getting obliterated by rushing white water. I have found that in Undeath and the title track off their upcoming album “Lesions Of A Different Kind” is a stellar example of their sound. The track leads in with a lone high toned drum roll, followed by an endless flow of riffs, and guttural vocals. Undeath is at its core a death metal band, still, they do not try to emulate any other acts' sound. The grit and atmosphere Undeath is able to conjure through their sound is astounding. They have found their own beautiful, dark, and horrifying way. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the full album.

Mary 🧟‍♀🙉🙅‍♀️

This not my genre of choice. Basically the song put a negative feeling all over my body, but when I read the title I got it. Darkness persists. How does one make the satanic voice? If its by screaming and growling at the same time, I am sure that its bad for your vocal chords. Who ever was on the guitar and drums was clearly feeling themselves which I can appreciate.

Undeath’s “Lesions of a Different Kind” is the kind of pummeling, brutal, and still somehow pleasant guttural assault on the senses. If you’re into this, you’ll like it, if not, this is maybe a good place to start with death metal. The guitar and drums shine through the muddy production creating an interesting contrast with the growling menacing vocals. Don’t hate me, but there is quality to the way the track shines a light on it’s backing instrumentation that’s not dissimilar to Deafheaven’s Sunbather (which I know, I know is of questionable Metal Cred).
