Would You Rather
be able to smell the future or hear into the past? Please explain why.
Smell the future. I feel like I already do both of these things. Because I can hear the past vividly and I can visualize the future and sense which direction I want to go.
But, to answer the question smell the future. The past I have already heard and if I can smell the future It would be easier to determine where the cheeseburgers are at.
Some questions with Lecrue Eyebrows
Where do you look for inspiration for your characters? I create spontaneously out of the present state of
My subconscious, and I end up learning a lot about life as I paint. I do not plan, sketch, or prepare ahead of time. I don't want to convey what I'm thinking; instead, I want to create the underlying emotion from my soul through subject, character, and form. Most of my "characters" are symbols of life roles or current emotions or situations. And most of my "objects" are symbols of meaning to help narrate the "story" or the "lesson".
What was the best piece of advice you ever received?
Follow your bliss. It's so simple and used so often.... but it resonated with me for a long time and as time keeps going and experiences come and go... I feel like I have learn the meaning of it in a much deeper context the more I refer to it and apply it.
What draws you to public displays of your artwork?
It has to make sense and it has to feel right. I don’t just jump on any opportunities much anymore. My art is my unique expression and the platform in which it is displayed has to be correct in order to fully take in the full experience. I like to work with my peers I like to work with like minded people to help promote each other and our scene. I'm very DIY too.
What was the inspiration behind your handle Eyebrows?
Eyebrows can communicate with out language. They protect your vision from outside elements. Lecrue- translates to the flood in french.... and also means a "gift from god" as a name.... the name lecrue was thought up by someone in my life that i know is a gift from god... and the person had no idea of the meaning before hand. So lecrue eyebrows.... a gift from god to protect your "vision" and communicate without words.
What is the all-time best toy from your childhood? Why?
The ghost buster back pack and gun. Because how can you be afraid of ghost with that thing on?
Are there any other artists that you like to collaborate with?
I have been very fortunate to collab with many artist lately. Cleon Peterson I would love to work with. Bisco Smith and I could do something special. I really want to work deal 54 @deal_54
What would NYC be like without street art?
I've been an artist for a very long time. i was born and raised here. Nyc street art and graff has always been a part of my growing up, so if you took that away you would take away a giant inspiration of my own work. It probably and literally is the first art I've seen in my life consistantly I mean its everywhere! It was a major role in my growing up, I've watched the styles change, and the art on the walls are always rotating. Not only an influence to me but it has given me the opportunity to show my work to the entire city... whether they want it or not. FRANK said that if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. I have no choice but to make it here so I made the city into my gallery. Also, street art is a major influence to the city in many dynamics, it creates this amazing atmosphere on your everday adventures, it attracts many visitors, and looks great in photos. To me street art is the next renaissance of art. it provides a platform for artist and self expression that can reach a mass audience especially in this city. It is a part of our culture, a part of our voice. Its a visual staple that gives visitors a taste of new York's many talents and voices. I love this city, I love its art, I love it's people and that's what nyc street art is about so with out it.....NYC would be grey.
