Let’s keep the momentum going with another fantastic NYC based artist Vahid Sharifian creates fantastic thought-provoking explorations of the human body that challenge our perception of genders. Throughout their recent work they have contorted and combined figures with wonderful results. Get to know the artist as we talk about their inspirations, memories, and oral hygiene.

Would You Rather

a perfect photographic memory, or be able to see up to one day into the future? Why?

Of course future! The past has passed whatever it was but the future turns your curiosity on! Only in one way I would rather be at the past time if it's the first day of universe ! But if you mean about my life time it's different I would go back to see my dad again!

Some questions with Vahid Sharifian

Do you have a favorite dinosaur? Why is it your favorite?

No! But my favorite animal is octopus! They're pretty much smarter than human, they have 3 hearts their sex takes 4 hours to finish , and they're pretty, humble , unique, sexy and full of power

What about the human form that inspires you?

All Human forms are amazing, I love toes! They're beautiful and turn me on!

What is the best interaction you have ever had with a fan of your work?

There was one she commented your work makes me uncomfortable, they're disturbing but I can't stop looking at them!

What kinds of narratives do you gravitate towards in your work?

My recent works are some seconds of a big narrative that I choos a paintable moment of that! some of those are challenging the definitions about genders and some of those are discribing the loneliness of unique genders!

What inspired the recent shift to the more surreal subject matter in your work?

My challenges with different genders ! It's unlimited ! There's a lots of different genders maybe as much as the world population!

Where would be your dream venue to showcase your work?

I would love to have a huge castle in front of a waterfall with all of my works around me at that place! TBH all the venues are just some regular places ( apart from this fact that they're stunning architecturally ) and some people like you and me has gave them some credit! And some people go there to visit art! It's not a big deal for me showing them in a caravan or at the MOMA or Guggenheim or even hermitage!

Do have you ever had any cavities? How did that go?

My teeth are really good! The last time I went to a dentist was 24 years ago! I don't brush them I just wash them ! I think the food should be remain around our teeth for a few hours to impregnate our teeth bone

Thanks for having me! Just a friendly advice to everyone, don't judge anyone without knowing what's going on inside them and without knowing their background! Sometimes One of your simple judgy words can ruin a life or change to a dark way!
