Small in scale and right on the nose “Pretty Easy” by olive bernard is what it is. There are no metaphors to mix up, or meanings to intemperate “Pretty Easy” is an upset text message come to life in sing song form. While the simplicity is appreciated at nearly three minutes it gets frustrating.

“Pretty Easy” is pretty easy to listen to, Olive Bernard has brought us some straightforward intimate indie rock. It’s heartfelt and heartbreaking, and quite effectively paints the image of a deteriorating relationship, alongside the numbing isolation and seeming ease with which things can dissolve. I dig it, it leans into the simple instrumentation with lyricism that drips meaning and disguised complexity.
