Would you rather…
have everything you wear always be three sizes too big or two sizes too small?
Three sizes too big for sure, when it's warm all I wear is big shirts over biking shorts out of sheer laziness.
Some questions with Nicole Mercedes
What is the worst tourist attraction in NYC? Why?
The street art tourist group tours in Brooklyn because it makes me irrationally mad to be slowed down by them on a bike.
What are your top three used emojis? Do you have any?
Double little pink hearts bc it sends out some love but is non-committal, woman shrug emoji, and woman zombie bc it conveys most of my emotions
Are you a sentimental person? Does this influence the way you make music?
I'm an extremely sentimental person but I think I feel too vulnerable when I express that irl so it 100 percent all pours into my music.
What is the best street food in NYC?
There's this taco truck off the myrtle-wycoff train stop that I love but idk the name :/
What was the creative process like behind your 2020 single "Stoop"
I wrote that song when I was going through real weird time and all I wanted to do was sit on my stoop and drink rose and make out with my friends, so it kind of wrote itself lyric-wise. And then I composed/produced it in the most atmospheric way I could to kind of just convey a general mood that anyone could understand, even if they didn't listen to the lyrics.
Being close to 7 years out from its release how does it feel looking back on your 2013 album “All The Windows”
I hadn't listened to it in a very long time, but have recently done so because with putting out this new album, I decided to put the old one on Spotify. Now looking back it feels quite precious and just really captures a very specific moment in time that I'll never feel again.
How was your 2020 Valentine's day?
I've played a Vday show every year for the past 4 years so it's always kind of friend- centric and nice.
Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)
