This is how you do folk rock in 2020. Lovechild’s “Sunshine” draws on past incarnations of folk rock bands to have come before while not stumbling into being a pointless carbon copy. From this track you can tell Lovechild is confident in what they are producing, they bring their own ideas and flair to the table making for an enjoyable listen. This track will be a big old hit for any fans of wholesome rock tunes.

Lovechild’s new single “Sunshine” is retro-rock throwback with just enough folk-psych-y-ness to keep it interesting. This track feels like someone found the lost lyrics to a song The Band was workshopping back in the ‘70s. Not to say that the old school sound Lovechild brings us here is “washed up” or “over the hill” far from it. This song somehow still feels present in the here and now, while we all hope we’re still young enough to have plenty of time to kill. The triumphant refrain, “I’ll be the first one standing in line to greet the sunshine.” closes the track by moving past the anxieties of what’s past. Instead opting to double down on the hope of what’s to come, assured that our best days are still ahead of us. Right now, I want to believe that to be true and Lovechild’s passion makes that belief easy.

These guys are legit hippies - singing about being mindful and connecting with nature with a guitar solo to boot. Add free love and psychedelic experimentation and its 1971. This song feels so apt that I hope it's indicative of a greater spiritual movement.

I have to echo my fellow fam reviewers here, Lovechild Sunshine feels like the appropriate introduction to the next wave of groovy rock.
