I’ve really been going back to projects that released just as the pandemic hit its full stride and may have been overlooked. This EP is a perfect example–released back in early March, 505 Palomar Place is quick and unforgiving. TwentyTwo really showcased their true groove on “Place”, a brash example of lead vocals finding their strength and rasp.

Ah the wonder of the sub-12-minute melodic punk EP. Pennsylvania punk outfit Twentytwo provides a lean, clean, and aggressive short list of melodic punk magic with recent-ish EP release 505 Palomar Place. This is a seriously approachable punk EP which strikes an ever-elusive balance with some impressively clear production, especially for a punk release, that manages to keep Twentytwo’s personality and sound unique. This EP is a rare throwback to late 90’s and early 00’s melodic punk evoking acts like Lagwagon, No Use for a Name, and any-non Ska band featured on the THPS 1 or 2 soundtrack.I’m very, very excited at the prospect of seeing Twentytwo live in the future, cause this EP is begging to be played in front of a crowd.

Here is an album that is tight and has some bite. Bringing back from the depths the heyday of polished melodic punk bands of the 90s. Twentytwo. manage to toe the line of glitz and glamor that we toppled over in the early 2000’s. Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of heart for the gooey sounds of the 2000’s. I just have a little more appreciation for the sounds on this record. They Twentytwo. has a sound that is a little darker, stark, and guttural. That's what I need today. I also have to make mention that it is amazing how “It’s Note Me….It’s You” starts out like a borderline 80’s metal track.
