Shy Layers

Meet Shy Layers

What a special kind of day we have here. I am one that likes to believe that all days are special. That being said this one is even more especially special. That is because today is the day that we get to hear from the wickedly creative Shy Layers.

Shy Layers makes some real pretty music. A potent blend of Funk, synth-pop, rock, and heaps of other stuff. Thats what I like to see! VARIETY! Don’t believe me? Check out their latest album linked below.

After catching their show at union pool. We passed along a few questions maybe a Mad Lib. below are the results.

Would you rather have a hundred million dollars in your bank account and the unconditional love from everyone on the planet, or have the ability to summon a 30 foot tall lava golem that will do your bidding? And why?

Everyone probably chooses #1 so I'm gonna go with #2 but use it for peace somehow.

How long have you been making music?

I started Shy Layers in 2015 or so.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I think I'm compelled to create just because that's the way I'm built. There are very few times when I think "Aha - I'm inspired today!" But when it does happen I'd say it's other people's music that I find inspiring.

What was the intention with your latest album, Midnight Marker?

I guess the intention was to expand my palette somewhat, and see how far I can push this sound.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be (doesn’t need to be music related)?

My kid and I often talk about this. When I ask him he says either teleportation or 'ice power". I have no idea what ice power is, so I'm gonna go with teleportation, it does seem convenient.  It would really revolutionize touring.

Any final comments?

I just want to reaffirm my support for Peaceful Teleporting Lava Golems. (PTLG for short).
