Meet Ni$ha da Chef

Oh boy, we have cooked up something really special for everyone today. Forgive me I know I have not used puns in a while but sometimes I just can not help myself. Ni$ha da Chef serves up delicious rhymes, smothered in thoughtful lyrics, and all backed by their own production. A self-taught wonder Ni$ha stopped by to chat about their newest album ‘Vibes from the Bedroom’ among some other fun stuff. Check it out.

only be able to talk in fortune cookies, or backward? Why?

Fortune cookies, it’ll be a very tasteful conversation.

Some questions with Ni$ha da Chef

What was the creative process like working on your 2020 release “Vibes From The Bedroom”?

Staying at home in quarantine, I was mostly in my bedroom creating. I was already working on a different project before quarantine and at the same time I had just found my sound that I believe defines me. I was heavily inspired by a dream that I had one night which made me write Dream$. Dream$ led to another song then another song and boom Vibes from the Bedroom

Are you self taught in music production? Were there any tools or tricks that helped you a lot?

Yes I am. I watched many Youtube videos to learn how to mix/master and I read a couple articles learning the business of it all when it comes to selling online.

What is the best interaction you have ever had with a fan of your work?

This was recent but a fan had told me how they were experiencing some crazy things in their life and my music helped them get through it. It made me very happy to see that my music can have a positive influence on people’s lives

What is the current state of trap music in NYC?

The thing about it is, it is always evolving and I love that. New York is filled with many talented artists.

What are your most important values as a musician?

Being yourself, do what works for you. Don’t change up because this person sang it or did it this way so you copy. Nah, that worked for them. You got to remember this is YOUR art. Music can also be very opinionated so don’t get discouraged because a few don't like it.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Poor hygiene! Brushing your teeth and showering is essential, if you have access to soap and water just do it. Don’t come around smelling all crazy that’s disrespectful.

Which was better, Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network?

Cartoon Network had some fire when I was younger, especially Toonami but Nickelodeon is still undefeated.

Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)

Vibes from the Bedroom is out now, keep running those streams up. I appreciate everyone that’s supporting me, I love you and thank you! Big shoutout to the nation aka #nishanation and the homies at d i f f e r e n t.
