Living It Up At The Broadway With Nico Potosme

Meet The Broadway

Although temporarily close The Broadway is and always will be one of my favorite venues in NYC. It is a fantastic spot to catch up and coming local musicians doing their thing, and a pretty sweet place to hang out even if there is not a show. Self-described as a “Social Club for the Stars” The Broadway has a knack for making any night spent there special. Today we sat down with Nico Potosme to chat about the venue. Check it out and peep The Broadways store for some neat merch. All photos by Nicole Potosme

Describe The Broadway to us in your own words.

The Broadway is one of the best Brooklyn bars and music venues. It has cheap drinks, great food, an amazing staff, an incredible sound system, and a cool pool table. You’ll see a lot of awesome musicians and you’ll have the best time.

Some Questions about The Broadway

Do you love or hate the bar at The Broadway? Why?

I love it. Because it’s never too crowded, the whole bar staff is pretty nice and the drinks are cheap.

Where is the best place to eat after seeing a show at The Broadway?

You didn’t really have to go anywhere because they used to have a little taco stand in their basement. And damn… those tacos were soooo good.

What is your favorite genre or kind of artist to photograph?

Punk and rock, for sure. There’s just so much energy from the performers and the crowd, it’s amazing. I kinda miss getting bruises from all the Native Sun shows haha. Ashjesus, New Myths, and Gustaf were always very fun to shoot, as well.

At concerts what camera do you shoot with most often?

My 1988 Nikon One Touch 100.

How does The Broadway rate on the clean factor?

10/10!

What other photographers' work has influenced you most?

Ooofff… Brad Elterman, Mick Rock, Jenny Lens. NYC has so many amazing photographers who inspire me every day though. Funny how life works, I ended up becoming friends with those who I only admired through Instagram and… I MUST give them a huge shoutout: Lily Rothman (@disposablily), Kevin Condon (@weirdhours), Samantha Singh (@girlinink), Allen Ying, Sarah Craig (@sarahkraig), Michelle LoBianco (@brooklynelitist), Devon Bristol (@devonbristolshaw), Pete Perry (@papa.ukraine).

What kind of crowd does The Broadway attract?

A very “hip” crowd, I guess. I don’t know haha

Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)

I just want to thank Lance and The Broadway staff for always being so awesome. Thank you for all the good times. I miss it terribly and I hope to see everyone soon.
