Two Truths and a Lie
(Answers at bottom of the article)
I didn't have teeth until I was 9
I am partially color blind
I can whistle two notes at the same time
Would You Rather
be the greatest juggler in the world or the greatest hypnotist? What would you do with your new-found powers?
I would rather be the greatest hypnotist not even a question. First of all, juggling is almost useless. Second, I was actually pretty skeptical of hypnotism until I got hypnotized myself. It's pretty interesting I read a bit about it after I got hypnotized because I thought it was all bullshit. Basically, it all revolves around the power of influence.
Some questions with Kevin Holliday
What was the creative drive behind your single “Want Me Too”?
Want Me Too" was inspired by trying to navigate a long-distance relationship. A lot of it revolves around time and trying to challenge its limitations.
What was the collaborative process like working with Dach on the track?
Working with Dach was amazing her vocals just brought the track to a whole other level. It also just came together so effortlessly. I made the beat in maybe 45 minutes and we finished the track and laid the vocals all that day. Mixing it took a little longer than I thought it was, but the whole process felt so natural, Dach really has a special talent.
What does your family think of your music?
My family has always been really supportive. They try to help me in whatever way they can. I have 3 brothers and they are all music heads so they all definitely try to be encouraging
Post-COVID-19 where would be your dream venue to play?
I would love to do a Summer Stage show at Prospect Park I grew up going to those concerts every summer and still do. I would love to do a big show in my hometown and do something that feels nostalgic. The atmosphere is also so incredible the crowd gets so into the shows.
Are you self taught in music production? What advice would you have for anyone trying to get into it?
I am self-taught actually. My main advice would honestly be "don't be afraid to be bad and learn". The first year I was making music I didn't even release anything because I was just practicing and trying to develop a sound. I think in pretty much anything, you have to fail before you can find success. A lot of times if when you find immediate success, it isn't sustainable
What is one thing you would want to change about the music industry?
I think there's a lot of obvious issues with the music industry, but two things that stand out a lot to me are racial bias and sexism.
What is the most memorable thing to happen to you on the NYC subway system?
I actually got kicked by a person that was performing on the train once he apologized and looking back on it, it was pretty funny but in the moment not gonna lie I was tight…I was just trying to go home lol
