HNRY FLWR

Meet HNRY FLWR

We all like a bit of fuzz. A bit of jazz. A bit of glitter…and the Brooklyn-based art rockers HNRY FLWER really scratch that itch.

This indie-pop glamazon tap dances on the line between lo and hi-fi, mixing crooning vocals with the distortion of the machine and the quirk of psychedelic pop.

Today, we discuss summoning portals, the unimportance of vowels, and his “mourning” routine. Go bask in the light and read it below!

Would You Rather

be stuck in an elevator with three of your exes, or sharing an Uber with all of their mothers?

My exes and I press floor infinity on the elevator to your heart.

Some Questions with HNRY FLWR

What is the creative process like within FLWR?

I wake up at dawn, sit by the window, create a drone sound, and wait for the portals of The Infinite Void to open up.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Sitting by a window at dawn.

What kind of Flower are you?

Vowelless

What is your favorite park in all of NYC? Why?

Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I think it's obvious why.

What was the last fight you had about / with?

During the day I fight with the shadows, at night I fight with the light.

How does it feel looking back on your 2017 release Flowerama?

It feels like looking back at your birth. You know it happened, other people remember it and enjoy the memory of it and the fruits of it, but most people don't remember the moment they were born. My mother remembers being born though. She can describe it to you vividly.

Where were you emotionally when writing the songs performed in Flowerama?

I was told I was crying because the light was so bright that it was hurting my eyes.

Who was the last person you kissed?

The FLWR bud bandmates. Every one of them.

What is your connection to the color yellow?

I prefer gold. Golden light cutting through blackness. Joy in the face of destruction.

What is your morning routine?

It's a creative process:

Who are your favorite bands active in NYC right now?

Pecas, The Wants, Whiner, Sloppy Jane, Gustaf, Viktor Longo, P.E., Cindy Cane

How do you feel about greyhounds in sweaters?

I think an animal that needs a sweater is unnecessary.

What has been the biggest highlight in your music career so far?

The highlight in a believer's glassy teardrop when they feel the vastness of The Great Beyond and the love that transcends it at our live events. The support of those believer's are a highlight in themselves, and they tend to lead to more highlights. When someone believes in you, you believe in yourself more. Kim Gordon says “People pay money to see others believe in themselves.” Lately, i've had extra support from We Color Live too. It's amazing what someone's faith in you can do to your faith in yourself.

How does allegory play into your music?

I do not think of music in allegorical terms. Music is sacred. I believe in it's ability to connect us with the unknown. It is the catalyst of my secular-spiritual awakening. The Infinite Void is vacant of answers or measurable truth, but that doesn't mean it isn't something we should ignore, or better yet, worship.

What is the significance of your “spider eye”?

My eyes exploded when I saw the first light.

Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)

January 29, 2020. Save the date. Bring honey. Believe.
