Meet Haybaby

Great things are happening people! We have Haybaby here today to answer some burning questions. This is one heck of a hard working band. Hailing from Brooklyn the group has an album getting ready to drop from Tiny Engines Records. The album is called “They Get There”, and it comes out early this June. Lets hope we all get there folks. Positive thinking, one day at a time and all that jazz.

Would you rather be transported permanently 500 years into the future or 500 years into the past? What would you do?

500 years into the future, duh, there's no toilet paper or womens' rights or readily accessible ice or electricity in the past. 500 years into the future, civilization may have collapsed due to climate change and the greed of man but at least it would be an adventure into the unknown! We would probably be a traveling troupe of spear-wielding bards whether we went into the past or the future. 

How long have you all been making music together?

Sam and Leslie have been playing together for about seven years, Jeremy joined Haybaby about four years ago.

What was your first live performance together like?

Sloppy as hell. It took us a few shows to realize we needed to check our levels and have tune our instruments, so the first few shows were pretty rough.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

The constant anguish of being alive

What is the most dangerous thing to microwave? Why?

A microwaveable gas station burrito, because then you are probably going to eat it and have much inner turmoil for hours (if not days) afterward.

What was the intention with your upcoming album “They Get There”?

To make a siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick record that will stand the test of time and make animals like us forever

If you could have any superpower, what would it be (doesn’t need to be music related)?

Leslie & Jeremy: flight / Sam: to have a full body beard for styling looks, increased self-confidence, and respect from peers. Also doubles as storage.

If the price was no option what would be the perfect bagel?

Toasted everything bagel with scallion dill cream cheese, lox, red onion, capers, cucumbers, sprouts, and a wad of cash on the side

It's shameful that the federal minimum wage is $2.13/hr for tipped employees and $7.25 across the board. That's not a liveable wage. The tipping system is a vestige of slavery. Also health care should be free and accessible, and women's health is not something that government has a right to regulate. All the superannuated men in charge will die soon- they have been working towards creating a system that only benefits them & their peers. Let's replace them all with a more diverse group that actually represents and fights for the needs of the people, not to line their own pockets and further their personal agendas.
