Would You Rather

have the power to make things you touch turn invisible or shrink?

I would love the ability to make things shrink, imagine all of the equipment you could put in your pockets! I could bring my keyboard, guitars, laptops, etc. anywhere with ease- that’s a dream!

Some Questions with CTRL 94

If you couldn’t say “musician,” what would you call yourself and why?

A creator. I’ve also had an intrinsic desire to create things. Be it or music or photography or videography, I’m at my happiest when I’m making something.

If your music was a sandwich, what would it be? Why?

A classic turkey club, it’s reliable with ample layers.

Why does your music make me nostalgic for a decade I didn’t live through?

That’s the ultimate compliment, thank you! I was heavily inspired by 80s soul/R&B and film soundtracks by Vangelis. I’ve always loved the sound of 80s gated reverb drums and funky synth basslines. It’s not my intention to romanticize the 80s, because a lot of awful things happened during that decade, but through the bad a lot of fantastic music and art was created. I’ve certainly needed an escape this year and getting lost in that good music has really helped.

What acts inspired your work?

Naked Eyes

Evelyn “Champagne” King

Patrice Rushen

Deniece Williams (if you want to be transported, watch this )

What is the greatest music video of all time?

It’s really difficult to just pick one. I would have to say one of the greatest and most underrated is Frontline by Kelela. Those early 2000s Sims vibes go perfectly with the track. It feels nostalgic yet futuristic at the same time, whilst also being original.

On a scale of one to ten, what is your name?

A solid 8 out of ten I’d say

What are your top five favorite animals?

Ok, I definitely read too many Zoobooks as a child.

  1. Elephants- They are incredibly caring, intelligent, and self-aware creatures. They also live in matriarchal societies with the oldest and wisest females leading packs!

  2. Peregrine Falcon- Imagine being able to cruise around the sky and dive at over 200 MPH?!

  3. Sloths- Pure creatures who just wish to eat and sleep

  4. Dogs- No explanation needed here

  5. Frogs- they’re just neat!

Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)

Make sure to take care of yourself and be kind to each other!
