Meet Anna Shoemaker

Been some time since I had had an opportunity to use the word Cobbler in a sentence and not be referring to a delicious after-dinner snack. Now is my time to shine. For you see a cobbler is someone who makes shoes. That being said Anna, does not make shoes. Nope, you will find no, clogs, crocs, or uggs in their body of work.

Instead, you will hear a plethora of gorgeous glittery pop tunes. Oh, So so glittery, so bright and shiny my eyes have yet to recover. I don’t mind though. Have a look for yourself. Listen to their tunes, and read their words in another one of our fantastic interviews.

GEORGE WASHINGTON A Mad Lib by, Anna Shoemaker

George Washington, the Father of our JOE'S PIZZA, was a very STICKY man. When George was a LUMINOUS boy, he took his SOUR PATCH KIDS and chopped down his father's favorite RICK SANCHEZ. "GIVE IT HERE MALFOY!!" said his father. "Who SHOOK my HELLO KITTY?" Then he saw George holding a PINK COWBOY HAT in his hand. "Father," said George, "I cannot tell a lie. I did it with my little DISPOSABLE CAMERA ." His father smiled and patted little George on the MU SHU CHICKEN.“You are a very honest REVERB PEDAL," he said, "and some day you may become the first BARISTA of the United States."

Would You Rather

be the greatest juggler in the world or the greatest hypnotist? What would you do with your new-found powers?

The greatest hypnotist!! wow i would do so much but first things first I would hypnotize my landlord to let me live in my apartment rent freeeeeee, also I would hypnotize my best friend not to be allergic to cats-- that's definitely not a thing you can do with hypnotism but considering I'd be the greatest in the world I could probably swing it.

Some Questions with Anna Shoemaker

Would you ever play a prom if invited? If no Why? If yes how would you do it?

I think I would just so I could like change my perspective on it. I went to a few proms but one of them was at that huge aquarium in Camden NJ and I just remember stumbling into this room with a tank full of dead fish and being very disturbed by that, specifically the smell. so yea why not try and spruce up my prom memories! I'm still friends with my date, Peter! So I'd make him come too.

How do you feel about the current state of pop music?

Pop music isn't just the music you hear on the radio anymore which is cool. I think what I like about pop music is that it can be very formulaic, so with a lot of my songs I will write them like a traditional “pop” song but then once I get into the studio mess with the guitars and sounds to make it sound a little off or different. I don’t really think about genres that much anymore, it’s freeing to just make what you want and not focus on it being pop enough.

What does your family think of your music?

I think they like it! Unless they’re lying! My sister and best friend definitely like it when I play them demos but when they've heard the same song like 30 times in a day (if I'm rehearsing or checking a mix or whatever) I think they're like ok you need to stop its quiet time.

Where would be your dream venue to play?

Red rocks, I went to school near there and my friends and I used to go to shows there all the time they were always so sick.

How did you get into music production? Did you have a mentor or were you self taught?

I’ve been lucky to meet some really great producers through mutual friends and my manager. I’ve learned so much by just being in the studio and watching. The best feeling ever is when you click with a producer and can just write and make music and chill. The first time that happened to me was in Philly with this producer Ben Thomas I would go to his studio and we would just sit for hours and I would write on this couch behind him while he produced and it was the best. Sometimes our other friend Shawn Smith would come too, he’s an artist and writer with him is insane. I don’t even understand how his mind works. Recently I’ve been working with Will Baker in Brooklyn and it’s a similar situation- I think the bottom line I've learned that the best songs come from writing with people you enjoy working with- which seems obvious I guess but that's what is up.

Do you think your music could be played in a first-grade classroom?

Some of my songs probably could...others, maybe not. I think my lyrics would be more likely to offend grandparents than taint the youth.

What TV show would you bring back from the cancellation, and why?

Omg. I watch way too much tv but I was so sad when Schitt's Creek ended! I love Dan Levy. Also, Broad City was so good. If Rick and Morty or The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel got canceled we would have big problems. I think I watch everything, it's embarrassing.

What is the most useful thing you own?

Sunglasses because hangovers

What’s the hardest you’ve ever thrown something? What happened?

Probably my phone but I don’t think I’d ever throw it hard enough to break it because I know that shits expensive.

What is the most memorable thing to happen to you on the NYC subway system?

I MUST SAY running into my ex in midtown on the M was very unsettling.
