Some questions with Andrew Cosentino
What is your worst habit?
Not walking the further away ATM where I don’t have to pay any fees.
What has been keeping you creatively inspired lately?
Nothing in particular I don’t think, I try not to think about making music in terms of being inspired or not inspired, I just try to make it part of my regular routine, and I feel like that kind of practice is more helpful than anything. That said, there are always guitarists whose playing just stuns me - Mason Lindhal, Wendy Eisenberg and Hayden Pedigo are a few names that come to mind.
What's your favorite fruit
Raspberry
I saw you got to host a couple of shows featuring a number of ambient and instrumental acts. Can you tell us a little more about the whole thing?
Yea, I started hosting a show featuring local ambient/instrumental music at The Windjammer in Ridgewood - it’s called Crystal Palaces and it’s on the last or second to last Sunday of the month, every other month - the next one is on September 25, featuring Seawind of Battery and The Royal Arctic Institute, among others.
How did you translate your music to a live performance?
I write all my songs on guitar with paper at first, mostly so I can remember how to play them later, so I tend to just play them from that, with guitar and effects pedals, though I certainly do some improv on most of them and take some liberties during each performance.
What is the most useful thing you own?
My Squatty Potty
What do you have on the horizon? Anything you are excited about?
Just continuing to book people for this Crystal Palaces ambient music series I mentioned, hoping to get that to a place next year where there’s something of a built-in audience, though we’re not there yet.
Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)
I did just release a new song, Cabrio, named after the old model of Volkswagen, listen to it please!
