Meet Andrea von Kampen

Hello music people of the world. While I continue to make sense of this whole time change thing lets talk about something that I understand. We have a new interview here with the very talented folk singer Andrea Von Kampen. Also keep your eyes peeled for our review of her latest album Old Country which should be coming soon.

Would you rather be the greatest juggler in the world or the greatest hypnotist? What would you do with your new found powers?

Hypnotist for sure. I’d probably be able to land some pretty great after- prom gigs.

If the price was no option what would be the perfect desert?

The perfect desert? Hmmm.. I’m not a huge desert person. I prefer trees and water.

But if I was going to have a dessert it would definitely be Tiramisu.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Literature, nature, and the people around me.

What is the one sound you can not stand to hear?

Knives and forks scraping on plates. Also, chalk squeaking.

What was the intention with this latest album Old Country?

I wanted to write an album that was thoughtful, minimalistic, and had meaningful lyrics. I was inspired by the Midwest and the prairie and wanted to incorporate the feelings of this land into my music. Ha, and then I also had the songs “Portland” and “Teton” on there too.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be (doesn’t need to be music related)?

I would love to be able to apparate. That would make touring a lot easier.

Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)

Haha, I think we covered the important stuff.
